MADELINE LINSLEY SMIDT

It is said that all paintings are self portraits. This is true for
Madeline Linsley Smidt who expresses herself through her abstract paintings.
"My studio is my quiet place", she says.
"I first approach the canvas with a particular composition in mind
and paint in oil or acrylic.  But, to me, oil is magical.
It is luscious and delicious.  My choice of palette depends upon
the feelings I wish to convey, some unsettling, some joyous".

A resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, Ms. Smidt grew up in Stamford, Connecticut.
While earning a bachelors degree at Columbia University in New York she
often would escape the campus to visit the Manhattan galleries and museums.
Following a corporate career in Information Management Ms.Smidt pursued
her interest in art by taking many workshops at The Scottsdale Artists' School.
From realism to abstraction, painting became an obsession.  She has won many awards
and has participated in juried  shows in the Southwest and New England.
Previously represented by On The Edge Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona,
her work can be found in private collections throughout the United States.

Ms. Smidt and her husband, Oliver, live in Scottsdale, Arizona.
